Note From Race Director: Wes Walker is a lifetime resident of Payson, UT. He has made it his life's mission to serve his community in whatever capacity he can. Whether it's his "day job" on the South Jordan Fire and Rescue crew, or his "side jobs" as a volunteer Firefighter in Payson, an assistant Track & Field coach at Salem Hills High School, or as an ER Tech at Mountain View Hospital, Wes has done everything in his power to have an impact for good on his world. On Saturday June 30th, Wes was involved in a dirtbike accident. Wes went in for surgery on his leg, and afterwards did not wake up. It has been determined that Wes has Fat Embolism Syndrome, common in long bone fractures, but not normally this severe. Essentially little fat emboli entered his blood stream at the site of his fractures and from there traveled to his brain, producing stroke-like effects. The long-term prognosis is still undetermined, as Wes and his family continue to fight through this tragic situation.
To aid the Walker family in Wes' recovery process, the Fight For Wes Foundation has been established. As part of this Foundation, we are organizing the Fight For Wes 5K Run and Children's Mile. 100% of all proceeds will go directly to benefit Wes and his family.
