Event Information

This year we are holding the event to benefit the Garrett family, specifically Jude Garrett. Jude is the son of Kim and Tucker Garrett. Jude has experienced life-threatening medical challenges from the beginning of his life. Just after he was born, he was diagnosed with Down syndrome, which was only the first of the many diagnoses. Jude is now 21 months old, and will turn 2-years-old this coming October. He is deaf in one ear and uses hearing aids as a result.

Recently, Jude was also diagnosed with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a disease that hyper-activates his immune system, which causes it to attack his organs. Due to his various conditions, Jude must attend regular hospital and doctor visits in order to keep him alive.

We host this event purely for the benefit of paying-it-forward. Therefore, 100 percent of the race proceeds and donations go to the family in need for medical care expenses. AvantGuard Monitoring Centers and donations from community partners pay for the cost of the race, timing system, shirts, and signage. All organizers of the race are volunteers and receive no compensation from the donations received.
