Note From Meet Director: Dear Coaches,
Here are guidelines for the Gadsden Middle School Meet.
We will be having the scratch meet from 2:15-2:45pm. The scratch meet will be as follows:
1. Only scratches and substitutions - no additions. You will not be allowed to add athletes into blank spots. You may scratch out athletes who were not able to come and substitute others in their place, but you may not add.
2. Once the meet starts, there will be no substitutions (Ex. One of my kids is really tired and decides he/she can't run in the 4x400 relay so you find someone else to take their place. This will not be allowed)
We will follow all NMAA rules for middle school track participants:
1. Participants are allowed to participate in 4 events (up to 3 running and 1 field, vice versa, or 2 and 2)
2. A 7th or 8th grade student is limited to four (4) events in any track meet. No more than three (3) of these may be running events, including relays. No more than two running events may be 400 meters or more(allowed - athlete runs the 800, 1600, and 4x200; not allowed - 800, 1600, 4x400 would be illegal)
3. The discus must weigh 1 kilogram and the shot put 4 kilograms.
4. No jewlery
During the meet:
1. Running events take precedence over field events
2. We will be having open pit for triple and long jump from 3:00pm - 4:00pm. Throwing events will follow the designed times. You must stress to your athletes to warm-up immediately when they arrive and get their jumps or throws in.
3. Coach Kohl will be the meet director and meet judge should any situations arise that require a judgement.
4. Results will be announced as the meet goes on
5. Sportsmanship is a necessity and will be enforced. All athletes are asked to represent their school, communities, and family in a honorable way.
