It's that time of year again!
We are excited to be hosting the 13th annual winter hurdle clinic with Coach Jamie West, Coach Carrie Fredin, Coach Greg Flint, and local College athletes. This clinic is for athletes 9th grade and up.
At this clinic you will get coaching and direction on proper warm up, sprint drills, hurdle drills, speed and agility drills, proper start positions, shin splint prevention, and of course some hurdling!!!
Cost includes entrance into the oval, T shirt, and snack

A bit about the coaches.

Coach Jamie West - Coach West has been a track and field coach for 15+ years. Coach West hurdled at Davis High School and went on to hurdle at Weber State University. She has been a head coach at both Davis and Morgan High Schools and has been a hurdle coach at Davis, Morgan, and Layton High School. In high school and college, she made it onto multiple all time lists as well as set Davis Highs school record in the 100m, 55m, and 60m hurdles. She was a 2-time state champion in the 100m hurdles. Coach West has enjoyed coaching hurdlers from all over the State as well as some hurdlers internationally. This past year one of her online clients became a National Champion in India. She has coached 5 State Record holders; 2 in the 60m hurdles, 1 in the 55m hurdles, 1 in the 110 hurdles, and 1 in the 300m hurdles. She has also coached 13 individual state champions and 56 state placers in the hurdles (placed top 6). She loves to teach youth and push them to their best achievements!

Coach Greg Flint - Coach Flint has many great achievements in hurdling with the biggest being that he competed at the Olympic Trials in 2004. He was one of the top hurdlers in the nation at his time Competing at BYU winning many meets. In high school he set State records and was a two-time State Champion. He now enjoys sharing his hurdle knowledge with others. Coach Flint brings such a great background, experience, and knowledge to the clinic this year.

Coach Carrie Friden - Coach Fredin grew up in Illinois where she hurdled and sprinted. While in high school
she set the school record in the 100m hurdles. Carrie started coaching high school track in 2012 at Layton
High, specializing in coaching the hurdle crew. Since that time there has not been a state championship
without Layton High hurdlers competing at the highest level.
Carrie has a level 1 USA track and field certification as well as a United Endurance Sports Coaching Academy
running coach certification. Carrie is also a certified life coach through Transformation Academy.
In addition to formal certifications Carrie has dedicated herself to continuing to learn all she can about track
and field by researching training techniques and reaching out to expert coaches in the field. She is passionate
about bringing out the best in the athletes she coaches and teaching life lessons on the track.

Coach Ruby Waltman - Ruby is currently in her last season running for the University of Utah. During her time there she has had much success in the hurdles making it onto all time list and winning some meets. Has competed at the pac 12 championships in the 400m hurdles. While in high school Ruby was one of the best hurdlers the state has seen. Winning a 300m hurdle State Champion title. Ruby brings a great depth of experience and knowledge to the clinic this year.

Coach Payton Suitter- Payton hurdled at Bingham High School where he achieved great success. His junior
year he was one of the top hurdlers in the state. He placed 2 nd at State in the 110m hurdles and made it to
finals in the 300m hurdles. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic he did not get to reach his goals for his senior
year. Payton is a master technician and studies and applies all hurdle technique. Payton coaches at Orem
High and has helped coach many hurdlers to have success throughout the season and at the State
finals. Payton is incredibly knowledgable and brings a great asset to the technical part of hurdle coaching.

Coach Bailey Kealamakia - Bailey comes from a hurdle family where her father and mother hold many
records in high school and college. Bailey was one of the top hurdlers at Davis High School and made it onto
both the 100h and 300h all-time list (very hard lists to make). Her senior year was also cut short during the pandemic
but Bailey stayed committed and was able to get a scholarship at the UNIVERSITY OF UTAH. This past year
Bailey was one of the top 400m hurdlers for the University and made it to the pac 12 championships. Bailey brings enthusiasm, knowledge, and a love for hurdling.
